Hi! My name is Patti Backer. I am an artist and illustrator living in Berlin on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
My painting is a combination of folk and lowbrow. Cute and sometimes slightly sinister. I am inspired by our garden, nature, Wes Anderson movies and good food. I could sit outside and watch birds and bugs for hours. They are fascinating to me. I have had the urge to draw, paint and make things for as long as I can remember. I am mostly self taught although I did attend Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore only to realize my creativity was better left unstructured. My work has been featured in galleries and shops on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Delaware as well as Philadelphia, PA, Washington DC, Baltimore, MD, and Salt Lake City, UT.
